Paralysis (CVA)

What is Paralysis (Cerebrovascular Accident)?

→ Paralysis due to CVA (stroke) is the loss of muscle function in part of the body caused by an interruption of blood supply to the brain. When brain cells are damaged due to lack of oxygen or bleeding, the affected area can no longer control certain body movements. It commonly affects one side of the body (hemiplegia) and may also impact speech, vision, and coordination. This condition can occur suddenly and requires immediate medical attention.

Causes

→ Blockage of blood vessel (ischemic stroke)

→ Rupture of blood vessel (hemorrhagic stroke)

Diagnosis

→ Clinical examination by doctor

→ CT scan / MRI of brain

→ Blood tests

→ ECG (to check heart condition)

→ Neurological assessment

Treatment Management

→ Immediate medical treatment (emergency care)
